David and Goliath. Jesus and the Pharisees. Sometimes you just have to stare down the enemy even if it seems you are unlikely to win.
We all know people who have struggled with something whether it’s alcoholism, drug addiction, cancer, a heart condition, mental illness, a difficult family situation, or even making a choice that necessitates doing something counter to the mainstream and therefore incurring negative consequences. Each of us also faces an enemy, a struggle, a thorn in our side. There may be more than one.
Sometimes we sling stones and the problem goes away. Other times it seems as if even after a very long fight the enemy wins, at least the battle. We must never forget who will ultimately win the war.
Stay close to our God of compassion and truth, the God who healed a man and died for it, and us.
