It has been a busy and eventful summer and hence the lack of posts. I’ll begin with a new study about treatment of addiction decreasing the rates of suicide and crime. If you know someone with addiction or you yourself suffer from it, don’t wait until you are in the end stages, which often lead to overdose and suicide, dealing drugs and abusive behaviors. Don’t rely on family physicians who often are not versed in the complexities of addiction and mental illness. Instead seek treatment from addiction specialists or inpatient treatment programs. Be honest. Ask God to give you the courage to ignore stigma even if it means the loss of livelihood, friends, or position. He will bless you with humility, and persistence if you ask Him and then stay the course to health. Treatment works only if you work!
